Interaction of the Θ with the Nuclear Medium

چکیده
The discovery of the Θ resonance opens the possibility of forming exotic Θ hypernuclei, which, like in the case of negative strangeness, could provide complementary information on the structure and properties of the pentaquark to that obtained from elementary reactions. In Ref. 2, a schematic model for quark-pair interaction with nucleons was used to describe the Θ, which suggested that Θ hypernuclei, stable against strong decay, might exist. Later, in Ref. 3, the Θ selfenergy in the nuclei is calculated, based on the ΘKN interaction. The results show a selfenergy too weak to bind the Θ in nuclei. In this talk, we present some selected results from Ref. 4. There, we redo the calculations of Ref. 3 modifying some of the assumptions. The results are similar to those of Ref. 3 and a quite small potential is obtained from this source. Additionally, we consider other new selfenergy pieces related to the coupling of the Θ resonance to a baryon and two mesons under certain assumptions. We find that the in-medium renormalization of the two meson cloud of the Θ could lead to a sizable attraction, enough to produce bound and narrow Θ states in nuclei. The coupling of the Θ to two mesons and a nucleon is studied using

In-medium properties of Θ in symmetric nuclear matter
The properties of nuclear matter is carefully analysed in relativistic mean-field formalism(RMF), it is found that the non-linear self-interaction of σ meson affects the properties strongly at high density and there is also strong parameter dependence in this region. We introduce a density dependent scalar coupling according to the idea of QMC model, find that its effect to properties of nuclea...

We study the interaction of the Θ + pentaquark with nuclear matter associated to the KN decay channels and to the two meson cloud. We find that the potential is attractive and could be strong enough to lead to the existence of Θ + nuclear bound states.
متن کاملCharacterization of low, medium and high energy collimators for common isotopes in nuclear medicine: A Monte Carlo study
Introduction:In an ideal parallel-hole collimator, thickness of septal material should be sufficient to stop more than 95% of incident photons. However, some photons pass the septa without interaction or experience scattering before they reach the detector. In this study, we determined different contribution of collimator responses consist of geometrical response, septal penetr...
متن کاملSTUDY OF NUCLEAR LEVEL DENSITY AND SPIN CUT-OFF FACTORS
Nuclear level densities and spin cut-off factors have been deduced for nuclei in the mass region 24‹A‹63,from a microscopic theory, which includes nuclear pairing interaction. Single particle levels for both Seeger and Nilsson potentials were used in the calcdations. Level densities extracted from the theory are compared with their conesponding experimental values, It is found that the overall...

Introduction: The commercial 252Cf sources are too large in size and clinical applications of neutron brachytherapy (NBT) are limited to a small number of intracavitary treatments of cervical cancers. Recently, under the Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with Isotron Inc., the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) encapsulated a new medical 252Cf sources, c...
